IDR 5.9 trillion in funds for infrastructure and housing in the Papua Special Region

The government, through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), has allocated a budget of IDR 5.910 trillion for infrastructure development in the New Autonomous Regions (DOB) of Papua. This includes the regions of South Papua, Central Papua, Southwest Papua, and the Papua Mountains. The budget is designated for the years 2024-2025.

Specifically, IDR 580.83 billion is allocated for water resource management, which encompasses the enhancement of intake capacity for regional drinking water supply systems, the construction of raw water facilities, as well as flood control and coastal protection measures.

For road and bridge construction, IDR 621.77 billion is earmarked, while IDR 4.253 trillion is allocated for the Creative Works sector, which includes the construction of the governor's office, the regional parliament (DPRD), the MRP, waste management facilities (TPST), optimization of waste disposal sites (TPA), drainage systems, and regional drinking water supply systems.

Additionally, IDR 454.47 billion is designated for housing, which includes the construction of apartment buildings and public utility infrastructure (PSU) in South Papua, Central Papua, and Southwest Papua, as well as special housing in South Papua.

According to a recent written statement from the Legal and Public Information Division of the Directorate General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, contracts for the construction of apartment buildings and special housing for civil servants in the DOB of Papua were signed at the Ministry of PUPR in Jakarta at the end of last month.

The contract signing was conducted by the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) for Apartment Buildings and Special Housing in Papua Province, Second Michal Sopranita Maria Elisabeth Worabai, along with representatives from PT Nindya Karya and PT Djasa Uber Sakti Tbk, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of PUPR and the DOB of Papua.
