The Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, alongside the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, inaugurated the falts (rusunawa) at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) at the end of August.

With the inauguration of the UMJ rusunawa located on Jl KH Ahmad Dahlan, Ciputat, South Tangerang (Banten), the PUPR Ministry has constructed a total of 12 towers for the Muhammadiyah University from 2022 to 2024.

Minister Basuki expressed his hope that the UMJ rusunawa would significantly contribute to the educational process at the university. He noted that the construction of such facilities for educational institutions like Muhammadiyah was carried out under the directive of the President and the PMK Minister.

"I always remind everyone that when building infrastructure and educational facilities, it should be done with sincere intentions as it holds the value of charitable deeds," stated Minister Basuki, as quoted in a recent press release from the Legal and Public Communication Division of the PUPR Ministry.

Several senior officials from the PUPR Ministry were present at the inauguration of the UMJ rusunawa. Muhadjir Effendy remarked that the PUPR Ministry has significantly contributed to the development of infrastructure and educational facilities for Muhammadiyah.

"Not only the rusunawa, but around 70 other facilities and infrastructures have also been constructed for Muhammadiyah by the PUPR Ministry during Minister Basuki's leadership. I hope all of these efforts become his charitable deeds," he added.

Iwan Suprijanto, the Director General of Housing, announced that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has constructed a total of 2,300 residential towers across Indonesia, which includes 12 towers designated for Universitas Muhammadiyah.

These 12 towers are located in various regions, including Aceh, Riau, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, East Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi.

While Iwan did not specify the timeframe for the construction of the 2,300 residential towers, it is clear that the towers for Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) were developed through the Housing Provision Implementation Center (BP2P) of the Directorate General of Housing.

Each of the three-story towers consists of 36 residential units, including 2 units designed for individuals with disabilities, accommodating a total of 140 residents.

Currently, the residential towers are occupied by UMJ students, as they are equipped with furniture, clean water supply, wastewater treatment systems, fire protection systems, mechanical and electrical systems, waste management systems, lightning protection, a prayer room, a cafeteria, and an auditorium.

The construction of the UMJ residential towers has incurred a cost of IDR 17.4 billion, with the project running from December 2022 to December 2023. The contractor responsible for the project is PT Bangun Atma Persada, while the construction management consultancy is PT Adhikara Mitracipta.
