Exploration of Synthetic Stone by 3 Designers at The Colors of Indonesia

The Colours of Indonesia (TCOI) is an annual design event organized by 12 renowned Indonesian interior designers who are members of ID12. This year, TCOI will be held at Senayan City, Jakarta, from September 1-14, 2024. The ID12 designers will showcase various design explorations, with a focus on one or two materials, including the artificial (sintered) stone product Quadra.
Three designers - Ary Juwono, Anita Boentarman, and Reza "Bobos" Wahyudi - will present design works that explore the available Quadra slabs, which come in sizes up to 320 x 160 cm.
At a press conference on Friday, September 6, 2024, the organizers stated that the sintered stone is produced from natural minerals like feldspar and quartz, combined with select color pigments as needed. The material is manufactured through a high-heat, high-pressure compaction process, resulting in a product as hard as natural stone and non-porous.
Quadra is highly resistant to scratches, pressure, high temperatures, and chemical spills, while also being easy to clean. Ary Juwono's design, "Blanco Atelier," is inspired by painter Antonio Blanco's studio in Ubud, Bali, and features a summer home with a blue color scheme accented by contrasting hues to evoke a vacation atmosphere. Ary used Quadra's Septentine Craft (310 x 100 cm, 12 mm thick) on the floors and walls.
Bobos' "Vitality Oculus" is a modern, elegant fitness area with an open, tropical gazebo-like interior, using the glossy-veined Quadra Muromachi Breeze (320 x 160 cm, 12 mm). The simple, calm color palette aims to create a peaceful, nature-connected ambiance.
Anita Boentarman's "Tide & Tiki Bar" showcases a dynamic, modern design using Quadra's Coastal Oasis (320 x 160 cm, 12 mm), which evokes a coastal, resort-like atmosphere. Anita utilized the Coastal Oasis slabs not only for the walls and floors but also as a bar top, taking advantage of the material's strength, scratch-resistance, and easy maintenance.
In addition to the designers' works, Quadra will also be featured in the TCOI 2024 courtyard area through the "Garden Paradise" application, which seamlessly combines five Quadra motifs in a blue-dominant monstera leaf design with beige, onyx, and white hues.
